Pilgrimage Krakow - Zakopane
Day 1 – arrival
Day 2– Krakow
Visiting the city of Krakow i.a. Wawel Cathedral, Royal Tombs, Chapel of St. Leonard,
the place of the first mass of Karol Wojtyła, St. Mary’s Church with the famous altar by Veit Stoss. In the afternoon: transfer to Krakow’s Łagiewniki – a visit to the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy, a place connected with the life of St. Sister Faustina – author of the famous “Diary”. Her beatification and canonization was carried out by St. John Paul II.
Day 3rd– Krakow – Wadowice – Kalwaria Zebrzydowska- Krakow
Wadowice: a visit to the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where Karol Wojtyla was baptized in the local baptismal font, a visit to the John Paul II Museum. After a break for the famous cakes Wadowice cream cake, we go to the first calvary in Poland, Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. Visitation of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels and time to pray in front of the image of Our Lady of Calvary, famous for its graces.
4. day– Krakow- Zakopane-Krakow On the way to Zakopane, the opportunity to visit the Basilica in Ludźmierz, the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the statue of the Virgin Mary called “Gaździna Podhala” is the place of the so-called “Miracle of the Scepter”. During the coronation of the statue in 1963, Bishop Karol Wojtyla caught a scepter that fell out of the hand of the statue of the Mother of God. At that time, Cardinal Franciszek Macharski said: “Charles, Mary shares power with you”. Years later, this event was considered prophetic.
In Zakopane, a visit to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Krzeptówki, where there is a votive offering of thanksgiving for saving the life of John Paul II.
