Kazimierz Dolny - wine tasting
Along the Vistula stretches the wine region, which also touches on Kazimierz Dolny. Viticulture is favored here not only by loess soil, good hydration, but also by a mild climate.
The best time to visit the vineyards is the second half of May, as well as the end of August and the beginning of September – just before or during the harvest. The end of summer is also a good time for the largest vintage in Kazimierz Dolny.
Tastings of wines and regional dishes, a procession of winemakers or an auction of paintings, all this awaits on the Castle Hill. The Kazimierz Vintage is ahead of us!
Day 1 – arrival
A walk around Kazimierz Dolny, called little Gdańsk. The golden age of the city belonging to merchants began under the Jagiellonians and lasted until the mid-seventeenth century. The heyday ended with the Swedish Deluge. From the end of the 18th century, this town attracted artists.
The river, greenery, ravines, clean air and stylish buildings make Kazimierz look like an open-air museum. People attracted by the charm of this place make it teeming with life.
Day 2 – visiting the vineyards
Visiting two family vineyards, producing wonderful and award-winning wines: Kazimierz Hills and Widok Wojszyn Vineyard, both wonderfully located on the gentle hills of the Małopolska Gorge of the Vistula.
In the further part of the tour, a ferry crossing the Vistula, a break for lunch (regional cuisine) and a visit to the Renaissance castle in Janowiec.
