Culinary Budapest
We offer you the opportunity to get to know the special lifestyle of the Magyars and their unique gastronomy, enjoy coffee in one of the traditional cafes, taste local specialties, feel like at a “medieval royal feast” – all this away from typical tourist places. Budapest – a city full of energy, culture, tradition and joy of life – surprises with its culinary diversity!!
Day 1 – arrival in Budapest
Day 2 – Budapest – sightseeing
Today we will get to know and love the world metropolis – Budapest. In the morning, visiting Pest – Heroes’ Square, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Opera House, Vaci Itca promenade are just some of the attractions this morning. The walk ends in the Great Hall of the People, where refreshments with local products await. The afternoon program is devoted to the Buda website with its impressive buildings such as the Royal Castle with the Castle Mountain, the Church of St. Matthias and the Fisherman’s Tower. Coffee break with “kürtöskalacs” (traditional Hungarian cake) in the Fisherman’s Bastion with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The culmination of the day will be an atmospheric dinner with Hungarian specialties and a folklore performance.
Day 3 – visiting Budafok – Kecskemet – Zwack distillery with tasting
After breakfast, departure to Budafok, the”City of Wine”. In the Wine Museum a story about viticulture in the region, at the end of the visit an unforgettable tasting of the wines discussed. Transfer to Kecskemet, a lowland that is also known as the “Orchard of Hungary”. Visiting the city with its Art Nouveau Town Hall with a magnificent gable façade. Visiting the famous Zwack distillery with “palinka” tasting. Then refreshments with schnapps and a pogacz in a typical Hungarian inn and the opportunity to see the art of Csikos (traditional Hungarian horse shepherds). At the end of the day, dinner with typical Puštona specialties, music and wine.
Day 4 – Szentendre – visiting the open-air museum with refreshments In the morning, visit the Hungarian capital on your own, then meet for a coffee in the tradition-rich Szamos Gourmet Haz café on Vörösmarty Square. After this short break, visit the artists’ town of Szentendre, which has fully preserved its historical atmosphere. In the open-air museum there are original buildings from various regions of Hungary, thanks to which you can feel the atmosphere of life of the old Magyars. During the walk, refreshments with sourdough bread and fresh butter. The day ends with a “royal feast” with lute music in a restaurant in Visegrad.
