Niepokalanów

A place of pilgrimage associated with the figure of St. Maximilian Kolbe, who in the surrounding areas in 1927 founded a monastery and a modern publishing center.
After the war, a church was erected and the monastery was expanded. The place became a sanctuary of the Saint Maximilian Kolbe and the destination of numerous pilgrimages. Maximilian Kolbe died in 1941 in the Auschwitz concentration camp, giving his life for another prisoner. The exhibition at the Museum of St. Maximilian tells about the life and work of the saint. In Niepokalanów there is also the Fire Museum, as before the war the monastery had its own fire brigade and has a lot of historic equipment. Also worth seeing is the Pope Museum with its famous Papa mobile.
