VILLANY RED WINE FESTIVAL
Southern Hungary – the name itself is associated very positively: sun, good wine, good food. Accommodation in the spa town of Harkany, from where we offer various trips – to Pécs – the European Capital of Culture 2010 and the next day to the Red Wine Festival in Villany – a city called “Bordeaux of the East”. The mild climate and good soils provide a very good substrate for excellent red grape species. The main attraction is the “Read Wine Festival”( also called “Bacchus Days) with a procession. With riders, carriages, :wine Knights” various dance groups, orchestras and choirs – all of them warmly welcome guests. During the festival, the most outstanding winemakers from the region offer various types of wine in roadside stalls, and an additional attraction are shows of artistic handicrafts.
Day 1 – arrival in Harkana
Day 2 – Harkany – trip to Pécs – sightseeing – Villanykövesd – dinner with wine tasting
A walk through Pécs, the center of which is a unique set of architectural and art monuments from various eras. Visiting the impressive Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul with its rich interiors, a walk through the streets to Szechenyi Square, where the Pasha Gazi Kasima Mosque is located, rebuilt into a catholic church. Transfer to the Blum Pince winery in Villanykövesd. Dinner with wine tasting.
Day 3 – Harkany – free time – Red Wine Festival Free time in the morning, the possibility of taking advantage of the attractions offered by the hotel (such as SPA), in the afternoon transfer to Villana. The main attraction is “Red Wine Festival” with a procession. The quality of wines can be seen at various street stalls, where Hungarian culinary specialties and craft products are also offered.
